Natural science modelling

Course is included in the master programme students of the Faculty of Humanities and e-learning technologies without the engineering education background on bachelor level. Course provides transdisciplinary approach to knowledge, skills and competencies. Students acquire basic extract of the knowledge, developing holistic view to the fundamental processes in nature in the framework of physics, environmental sciences. Subject of the course includes basic relationships in the scale from universe to the microcosm on the atomic level and human as a substantial component of it. At the same time students acquire comprehension on digital modelling of the natural science processes and interconnections – graphics, diagrams, multimedia models and video explanations. Students will acquire skills of models’ practical design. Course will develop students’ comprehension on pedagogical efficiency of the natural science models, to assess and systematize models according to pedagogical effectiveness.

Kursā sasniedzamie mērķi:

  1. Theoretical knowledge and comprehension: 
    Solutions of digital technologies for creation of holistic understanding of natural processes. Digital solutions of natural processes modelling in accordance with findings of sustainable pedagogy and psychology. Critical comprehension about use of digital modelling. Holistic understanding of fundamental relationships in nature. Types of natural processes models, systematization, standards and application.
  2. Skills: 
    To exercise suitable natural processes models in contemporary e-learning environments in accordance with findings of pedagogy and psychology of knowledge society. To choose most suitable modelling mode and tool. Skill to develop digital learning material of natural science, using digital modelling tools.
  3. Competencies: 
    Creation and application of knowledge society technologies in organizations. Competency to design educational and holistic digital content learning tools , based on interactive and pedagogically reasoned modelling methods.

What is mandatory for course completing?

Students must take part in face-to-face lectures, discussion forums, get ready for tests and execute tests in the e-learning environment. They must study learning matherial, available in the e-learning environment, and design natural science models.
